Error: "Geosoft Connect could not be started or does not appear to be running correctly: pipe not found"

Occurrence:

This error message is returned when running Oasis montaj or Target:

"Geosoft Connect could not be started or does not appear to be running correctly: pipe not found"

Resolution:

If this error occurs and you are not currently signed into the program with your Geosoft ID:

  1. Click Sign In at the top right corner of the Oasis montaj / Target window.
  2. Enter your Geosoft ID and Password > Click Sign In.

If this error occurs and you are currently signed into the program with your Geosoft ID:

  1. Click Sign out at the top right hand corner of the Oasis montaj / Target window.
  2. Close Oasis montaj / Target.
  3. Right-click on the Geosoft Connect icon in the system tray > Click Exit.
  4. Launch Oasis montaj / Target.
  5. Click Sign In at the top right corner of the Oasis montaj / Target window.
  6. Enter your Geosoft ID and Password > Click Sign In.

If this does not resolve the problem:

  1. Close Oasis montaj / Target.
  2. Uninstall Geosoft Connect via Control Panel > Programs and Features (on XP - Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs).
  3. Launch Oasis montaj / Target.
    Geosoft Connect will automatically be re-installed when Oasis montaj / Target is launched.

Root Cause:

Geosoft / Target has lost connection to Geosoft Connect.  The connection between the two programs needs to be re-established.
