Error: "A connection with the Geosoft ID server could not be established."

Occurrence:
This error message is returned when I try to sign in with my Geosoft ID:
A connection with the Geosoft ID server could not be established.
This problem may occur if any of the following conditions are true:
1. Your computer is not connected to the internet
2. Your computer is protected by a firewall that is blocking access to the Geosoft ID server
3. The Geosoft ID server is down for maintenance
Verify your network connection and firewall, then try again.
If the issue persists please contact support@geosoft.com for assistance.
Resolution:
Start by verifying your Internet connection.
If there are no problems with your Internet connection, ask your I.T. department if you are using a proxy.
To modify the Internet options if you are using a proxy:

Open Internet Explorer

Go to Tools | Options

In the Internet Options dialog select the Connections Tab

Press the LAN Settings button
-
Under Proxy Server check "Use a proxy server for your LAN"

Enter in your proxy Address and Port
-
Click OK.
If you are still not able to sign in, you may need to add xid.geosoft.com to your safe list.
To modify your safe list:
Request that your I.T. department add the following information to their "safe list":

Domain: xid.geosoft.com
-
Address: 204.232.177.195
-
Port: 443
If the steps above do not solve the problem, delete Geosoft Connect:

Control Panel > Add/Remove programs (Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista and Windows 7).

Select Geosoft Connect and click Remove.

Launch Oasis montaj.
Geosoft Connect will be reinstalled. -
Sign in.
Root Cause:
The error may be caused by one of these problems:

Your computer is not connected to the internet.

Your computer is protected by a firewall that is blocking access to the Geosoft ID server.

The Geosoft ID server is down for maintenance.
