Symptom:
I have created an rdbms connection through DAP Administrator, but it is not cataloging my connection. I am getting this error after cataloging:
(40000) Failed to connect to the database. (ERROR [08001] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]Specified SQL server not found.ERROR [01000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (Connect()).)
Resolution:
-
Check the setting in the File Mappings in DAP Administrator by right clicking on your DAP Server --> Edit --> custom --> Edit. Check to see if there is .GEOSOFT_RDMS if there is double click on it and chage to .GEOSOFT_RDBMS then save the configuration.
-
Confirm with the client that the IDAP account has not been excluded from the database they are trying to connect the rdbms for.
-
Check to make sure that the System DSN connector is pointing to the correct database server.
-
Check the disk space available on the server. Ensure that the IDAP account TEMP and TMP environment variables folders are set within a disk drive that has alot of free space.
